The Downing Planetarium is operated by the Physics Department at California State University, Fresno. The planetarium features a seventy-four seat Star Theater under a thirty foot hemispherical dome. The planetarium star projector is able to show the stars of the night sky as they would appear at any time of the year from any place on Earth. Planetarium programs utilize video, slide, and special effects projectors in conjunction with the star projector for a multi-media extravaganza.
